Embracing change through travel and culinary discovery

Bergamo

Bergamo is a fantastic and under-rated city. Only a short train ride away from Milan this is a perfect day trip to explore something new in the form of a town that is very old. Bergamo has a great Medieval feel to it especially in the high city (Cittá Alta) and the low city (Cittá Bassa) showcases the more modern face of the town with shopping streets and new restaurants and cafes. The high city was my favorite as it is completely surrounded by defensive walls and has some wonderfully ancient buildings. I came across a unique headband shop that specializes in creative headbands and there are also many other unique independent shops in the high city that can’t be found anywhere else. If you are taking a flight from Bergamo airport make sure you allow yourself a day to spend here so you can really appreciate what it has to offer. The views surrounding the high city are pretty magnificent.
